Pad Thai recipe

After much refinement, here is a recipe for Pad Thai for 2:

Ingredients
Rice stick noodles for 2
- soak in hot (from the tap) water for about 2 hours and drain
Meat for 2 - cubed
Vegetables for 2
- stir fry until cooked (they go in at the end)
Egg - scrambled ready to add at the end
Hand full of (roasted?) peanuts - crushed

Sauce
25g palm sugar
45ml tamarind sauce
60ml fish sauce
1.5 tsp paprika
Add ingredients together and warm before starting to cook

Method
- Heat the wok until hot
- Add generous helping of cooking oil
- Fry the meat until sealed
-add 1 desert spoon of sauce and a little crushed garlic half way through sealing
- Add the noodles and sauce and keep moving from now on
- Cook until noodles are nearly done
- Add the vegetables and egg for the final minute
- Serve and sprinkle peanuts over the top

How to change the battery in a Tissot T-Touch

Successfully performed this evening in about 20 mins. The battery cover isn't magnetically held on, there is an o-ring seal to keep water out. I don't think changing the battery has affected how water proof the watch is. The back of the watch has holes in it anyway, so water must get inside when submerged. All the sealing is done beneath the back cover. We'll see next time it gets wet.

Fitzrovia pub crawl

If you like Sam Smith's pubs and want a pub crawl in the centre of London town, then download my Fitzrovia pub crawl map (PowerPoint format):

Fitzrovia pub crawl

Fitzrovia is the area in central London just North of the East end of Oxford Street. If you get bored of shopping then just pop north into any of the numerous Sam Smith's pubs in this area. All 6 pubs in the crawl are very close together, like no more than a few minutes.

Let me know if you want it in another format (mail me).

Samuel Smith's pubs in London

I'm from Yorkshire, but moved to London in 1991. My local Brewery at home was the Samuel Smith, Old Brewery in Tadcaster and I wanted to find all the Sam Smiths pubs in town. I stumbled across quite a few of them and was surprised at how many there were. I tried to find them all on the web, but it's quite hard - you can't just search for Sam Smith on Yell.co.uk. So here is a list of the pubs that I found from many different sites. This may not be all of them, and all the information may not be totally correct (I haven't visited them all), so don't shoot me.

If you need to find out where they are, use the Streetmap website and type in the postcode.

My favourite is the Cittie of Yorke in Holborn, you can hide away in the back of the basement in the middle of London, your mobile won't work and nobody can find you while you enjoy a pint of Old Brewery Bitter. Unfortunately, it's closed on Sundays like some of the others in Holborn.

If you know of any more or think that there are any errors, please email me.
