Successfully performed this evening in about 20 mins. The battery cover isn't magnetically held on, there is an o-ring seal to keep water out. I don't think changing the battery has affected how water proof the watch is. The back of the watch has holes in it anyway, so water must get inside when submerged. All the sealing is done beneath the back cover. We'll see next time it gets wet.
